Global Graphene Group Achieves First REACH-Certified Product

Global Graphene Group (G3) has finalized certification for its first product with the European Union’s Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH).

G3’s Gi-SL-B series (N002-PS), a single layer of graphene oxide dispersed in water, has achieved the REACH certification. G3 is registered with REACH to ship one to 10 metric tons of its N002-PS product into the EU annually with C.S.B. GmbH., the only representative for G3 in the EU. The REACH certification for this product secures G3 the right to market the product in Europe.

REACH is a regulation of the European Union, adopted to improve the protection of human health and the environment from the risks that can be posed by chemicals, while enhancing the competitiveness of the EU chemicals industry. It also promotes alternative methods for the hazard assessment of substances in order to reduce the number of tests on animals. REACH establishes procedures for collecting and assessing information on the properties and hazards of substances.

G3 is also a proud member of the REACH graphene consortium, taking an active role in how graphene solutions are handled in Europe.

“This REACH certification is vital as we ramp up production of our single-layer graphene oxide worldwide,” said Adam Quirk, Vice President of Business Development at G3. “Our team has worked towards this REACH certification for the past six months, and we’re working to have additional products certified in the coming months.”

Global Graphene Group Marks 1,000 Days With No Lost Time

Global Graphene Group (G3) celebrated a milestone – 1,000 workdays with no lost time on the Dayton, OH, campus – on December 17, 2019. As one of the world’s largest graphene producers, G3 adheres to strict environmental, health and safety procedures.

G3’s Dayton facilities are home to research and development laboratories as well as manufacturing, which involve safety protocols to keep employees and contractors safe. All G3 employees go through safety training when joining the company. In addition, the company holds monthly safety training for all employees on a variety of topics including hazardous materials, personal protective equipment usage, emergency plans and more.

“We highly value our employees’ safety, both at work and at home,” said John Davis, G3 Chief Operating Officer. “Safety is a core part of the G3 culture. Our employees are dedicated to working safely, and they work as a team to follow our safety procedures.”

“I’m proud of our team for achieving this safety milestone,” said Dr. Aruna Zhamu, G3 co-founder and Vice President of New Product/Process Development. “We constantly look for ways to work safer.”

G3 has a dedicated Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Committee with representatives from across the company who meet weekly to discuss safety concerns, review monthly safety audit results from the facilities and plan employee training sessions.
